Taylor Twp Fire/Rescue companies responded to a stranded motorist near 300 E & 100 N. The single occupant had to retreat to the top of the vehicle after failing to pass through high water. The road did have signage posted alerting of the road being closed due to extreme high water. Fire fighters acted quickly and rigged up ropes to a nearby anchor to safely tread the high water and rescue the motorist in 16 minutes. TTFR would like to remind motorist to never ignore road closed signs and to never pass through flooded roads and streets.

Taylor Township Firefighter were dispatched to the intersection of SR 26 & SR 19 for an accident involving a semi and a Chevy pickup truck. The driver of the pickup sustained injuries and was transported to HRHS ER by ambulance. The semi driver was uninjured in the crash. The intersection was restricted to one lane while crews cleaned up the roadway.

Engine 82 and Tanker81 on scene assisting Harrison Township Fire with a residence fire. Crews getting a drink of water and taking a break after the fire was brought under control in 15 minutes with no injuries.

Two IEMS, one EMT and one Paramedic lost their lives after a vehicle disregarded a stop sign and ran into their ambulance causing it to roll over. The two had to be extricated. The link below is a video by IEMS honoring them.

Taylor Township Fire Rescue companies responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision with power lines down. Car 81 arrived to find a single vehicle involved with several lines including a utility pole across the road. The driver already had exited the vehicle and escaped without injury. Car 81 and Engine 82 remained on scene blocking the blind curve to through traffic until Howard County EMA arrived to close the road. The area remained without power for several hours.

Members of Taylor Township Fire Rescue, Greentown Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison Township Fire Department, EMA, and Sharpsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 3885 South 500 East in Howard County just after 2 pm Sunday. The fire was a result of an unattended outside fire. Sustained winds of 28 mph and gusts that reached up to 52 mph pushed the hot embers of the outside fire into the house causing it to ignite. The home owner awoke to find his house on fire, and dialed 911. 50 plus firefighters were on scene to extinguish the wind driven fire. One Taylor Township fire fighter was slightly injured and was treated and released.

Taylor Township Fire Rescue visited Taylor Primary School to teach 100 kindergartens fire safety. Children learned the importance of having a family escape plan if there's a fire. Along with a fire fighter in gear demonstration, each child was given a smoke detector and stickers to take home courtesy of Taylor Fire.

Taylor Towship with the help of Harrison Township Ladder 23 assisted Taylor Community Schools with honoring Sgt. Bradley Atwell, who was killed in Afghanistan. A ceremony was held where Sgt. Atwell's family was presented the purple heart prior to the start of the Taylor Titans football game.
